CE 4268 Intergenerational Discipleship in Immigrant Churches
This course explores how Christian faith is taught, practiced, and passed on across generations within immigrant and diaspora churches. Students examine the spiritual formation of children, youth, parents, and older adults in communities shaped by migration, cultural transition, language differences, and intergenerational tensions. The course studies biblical and theological foundations for discipleship while engaging practical questions of family ministry, church education, second-generation identity, parent-child relationships, cultural adaptation, and congregational leadership. Special attention is given to how immigrant churches can nurture faithful discipleship that honors Scripture, strengthens families, bridges generations, and equips the whole church to learn, live, and teach the faith.
Prerequisite: CE 2686 Principles of Transformative Education or permission of instructor.
